Worldwide Release - Panasonic Lumix S5 - High Quality Images, Exceptional Quality Video, In A Compact Body

September 02, 2020

The Lumix S1 & S1R were both introduced early 2019.  They were well accepted by the market.  The factors holding the wider adaption of these cameras were size, weight and autofocus speed.

The Lumix S5 overcomes these factors ....

High Quality Images, Exceptional Quality Video, In A Compact Body

A hybrid (video/still) feature packed full frame mirrorless camera with the flagship features of the Lumix S series in a small light camera which is affordable.

Uncompromising Image Quality

  • 24.2 MB which is more than enough for high quality printing and display on digital devices
  • 96 MB Hi-Res ideal if you're working on high-quality professional massive print jobs, in JPG or RAW file formats.
  • Amazing Live View Composite helps you take the guesswork out of long exposure photography
  • Dual Native ISO sensor exploiting the S5's sensor information to extend its dynamic range, and reduce the level of signal noise that is produced. The sensor will therefore be able to read two native ISOs on the sensor instead of one. The result will be cleaner output at higher ISOs
Exceptional Video Performance with Cinema Quality
  • 4K 60p & 4K 30p native unlimited. Full 4K video and upto 60 full frames per second are recorded and it is no surprise that 60 frames per second capture more details of a motion than 30 frames per second. Therefore 60p is a good format for action sports. Most video is shot at 24, 25 or 30 frames per second
  • 10-bit Recording/Output - 10-bit recordings can display up to 1.07 billion colors, while an 8-bit recording can only display 16.7 million. Practically speaking, if you are just going to save this to YouTube or Facebook, you may not need more than 8-bit. If you intend to edit the video  you may quickly see the difference. 8-bit video is prone to banding when you start manipulating areas that require a smooth gradient of color.
  • 14+ stop V-Log/V-Gamut - increased dynamic range, improved retention of midtones. Full V-Log is pre-installed.
  • Full Frame Anamorphic Video enables you to shoot a widescreen video with a non-widescreen native aspect ratio.
  • Slow/Quick Motion. Shoot with a frame rate that is different from the playback frame rate, you can record images to be played back as slow motion or quick motion images
  • HDR/4K 60p Time Lapse which essentially stitches a number of photos into a video
  • Mic / Headphone Socket - A microphone input allows you to step up into dedicated audio equipment. Accessories such as lavalier and shotgun microphones offer much improved audio quality over the camera’s built-in microphone.  The headphones jack allows you to monitor your recording
  • Two XLR Audio Inputs using the Panasonic DMW-XLR1  (see bonus pre-order offer) for high res audio.

Vast Focus Performance Improvements Compared To Earlier S Series Cameras

  • Accuracy and speed improvements of Face/Eye/Head/Body Recognition
  • Significantly improved video autofocus and continuous autofocus

These enhancement will be incorporated in a firmware update to the S1, S1R and S1H later in the year

  • Up to 6 1/2 stops in-body Dual Image Stabiliser
  • High resolution Live OLED Viewfinder (2,360k 0.74x)
  • Free angle flip out fully articulated LCD screen

  • Fully weather sealed, dust and splash resistant magnesium alloy body
  • USB Power Supply / Charging
