Taking portraits is one of the most rewarding areas of photography. A good portrait can capture the personality of a subject whereas a poor portrait is little more than an expensive snapshot.
This class will show you how by using the right techniques and equipment, you can take unforgettable portraits and family photographs.
Portrait photography does not always need expensive lighting and a studio; with a little planning any room can be converted into a temporary studio.
The class is small and involves a degree of "hands on" teaching by an expert in the field of portrait and family photography.
Please note this class may involve a live model to allow a more effective teaching environment.
The course includes
• Before you begin
• Basic equipment (what lens setting do we use)
• The best setting for our cameras (understanding light metering)
• Choosing the right area and background
• Understanding lighting (using available or artificial light)
• Lighting - using the camera's flash
• Lighting - using a separate flash (including advice on choosing a flash)
• Composing a portrait
• Understanding posing
• Making the subject relax and getting the best from our model
• Working with Children (how to avoid the silly grins!)
• A guide to using software to minimise wrinkles and spots
