Description
A charity exhibition to be held in support of disadvantaged children in Australia and Vietnam Asia-Pacific in Contrast is an exhibition showcasing photographs by award-winning photojournalist Trung Nghia from his travels in Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Asia-Pacific in Contrast includes a variety of photographic themes such as “Labor in Asia-Pacific”, “Oriental Psychology”, “Traffic”, and “A closer look at young people”. During the process of taking photographs around Asia-Pacific, Trung Nghia was inspired by the way people earn their living through different types of employment in Asia. Trung Nghia examines how despite the patience, strong work ethic and creativity of his subjects, there still exists a growing gap between rich and poor. Moreover, the photographer actively focuses on images of immigrant communities in Australia, primarily Vietnamese and Nepalese with their effort to help the second generation maintain their traditional culture. Trung Nghia’s purpose in his exhibition Asia-Pacific in Contrast is to show the reality of the modernisation of Asia. “Please don’t forget that we are living in the most populated continent and we are still struggling with our life” he says. Exhibition opens Friday 3rd June 5.30-7.30pm. Refreshments provided. VenueDescriptionLevel 1, Michaels Camera Video Digital Cnr. Elizabeth & Lonsdale Streets, Melbourne
