Michaels Professional Photo Services aim to give you the very best quality product possible by using only the highest quality materials and expertise when it comes to your images.

Whether you are only an occasional happy snapper or a working professional we have the right product or service to suit you!

Only the best quality materials are used to ensure a great result which will last a lifetime. To ensure this, all prints and photo products go through our stringent quality control process. If we are not happy, we know you won't be, and will automatically re-do your work as part of our quality control process so that you are entirely happy when you receive your images. If we still do not meet your expectations have a chat with any of our friendly staff and we will go out of our way to achieve a result you are happy with!

We believe it is not just having the right material and equipment that give a great result, it is the people who run it. This is why michaels staff have a depth of knowledge and experience ranging from tertiary qulaifications in photography through to practical experiece as working photographers, artists or print makers. Above all, we have a passion for creating amazing images.

In the age of digital photography, it can sometimes be hard to find what you are looking for. We carry one of the largest product ranges in Australia, and can handle most image formats. Digital Printing Services

michaels Photo Services instists on using only the highest quality materials printed on the highest quality equipment. All Prints created on our Fuji Frontier are only made on Fuji Crystal Archive paper supplied to us directly from Fujifilm Australia, meaning you can count on a high quality and consistent result every time you print with michaels.

On-line printing

Upload your images to our server here. Please bear with us while we upgrade our upload page.

Each up-load can be up to a whopping 100mb. No software is required!

Each job will be processed within 48 hours. You will receive a confirmation e-mail during this time informing you of your order number and when your job can be collected.

We can handle almost any image file format, including :

• tiff (8-bit, uncompressed, without layers)
• raw*
• pdf*

cropped - minor cropping will ocur if your image is not 2:3 ratio (mostly D-slr's and film)

Sizing and ratios

Custom Shapes & Sizes - The Fuji Frontier's default file resolution is 300dpi. Please use this resoultion if you have specific print size requirements. Request NO-RESIZE.

Fit or Fill - By default both on-line prints and Kiosk auto-prints are set to FILL-IN. This means the image is automatically resized to fill the entire print with no borders. In many instances this is preferred, however images which have been cropped to non-standard 2:3 proportions (full frame) or are from compact cameras without the 2:3 proption option, may experience cropping of your print.

If we were to print an image which has been cropped to a square format and use the default FILL-IN setting, the entire rectangular shape (6x4) print will be covered with the image, however the top and bottom of the image will be lost (see example below).

If FIT-IN is selected, the image will be resized to ensure the entire image is printed. If a square image was printed as FIT-IN on a 6x4" print, the actual image will be a maximum size of 4x4", with 2" (1" on either side) as a white border

If you are using a compact digital camera, choose the 4x5.5" print size instead to avoid cropping. The examples below show how most digital compacts will crop the top and bottom of the image when printed on 6x4" prints. The example on the top (4 x 5.5") will avoid cropping and easily fits into your photo album.

  6 x 4" prints crop the top and bottom of photos taken on a compact.

Select FIT-IN instead to print the ENTIRE image. Note, this option may result in un-exposed areas of the print (see example directly above). If you are unsure or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

To make your images look the best on newer televisions, many cameras now offer 16:9 (widescreen). These images will be significantly cropped when printed. We advise selecting 2:3 (for 6x4 prints), or a standard resolution setting on your camera for 4 x 5.5" prints without cropping.

please note, filenames saved in language characters such as Chinese characters must be renamed in order to be printed.

Film Services

We are able to provide professional quality prints from your colour and black & white negatives, slides, and most colour print films (C-41).

Every frame on the negative is assessed by our experienced printers. If any corrections are required, fine colour and density adjustments are made to get the best print possible from your negative or slide.

Sometimes with difficult prints, corrections can enhance one part of the image but detract from another. As proffesional photo finnishers, sometimes we must make a decision to enhance the image in an area that you feel  is the most important (such as a face). If you are not satisfied with how your images have been printed, contact us and we will do our best to get the result you are loking for.

Professional Services

michaels offer more than auto-print services, but also offer the TLC you images deserve. Our commercial printing service offers critical image analysis, density corrections and colour corrections to ensure you get the very best result. 

AdobeRGB1998

As part of our commercial services we print in the AdobeRGB1998 colour space to give you the largest colour gamut to work with. 

RAW Files

We can convert your RAW files to TIFF for printing. If you are a busy photographer who simply has not got the time for post processing, we will happily convert your file for you at only $2.50/file or for a flat fee of $25 for 10 or more files.

Cards with RAW files can also be burnt to cd

For best results, we advise converting your files to TIFF or JPEG to your preference before printing. 

Pro-CD

Creating Pro-CD's from film is available, creating a disk with 3 file resolutions

 Please note: all digital CD services copy the entire file, and do not resize the image.

File Recovery

 

 

 

 

 Have a memory card full of images you can't print or view?

Have you accidentally deleted an important photo?

michaels memory card recovery services uses at least 5 different software suites to extract data from your memory card.... even if it is damaged or faulty.

A full recovery is only $50 and includes a CD with your images.

If we are only partially successful, you only pay part of the price! $30

If serious damage has occurred to your card or it's data rendering it un-recoverable you only pay $8.50

Do you have other corrupted media such as mp3 players or a hard drive with irreplaceable content? Bring it in, and we will be happy to attempt to recover your data! (quotes on request).

Film to CD

Looking to do more with your images but need to digitise them?

We can copy your film to CD either during processing, or if your film has already been processed.

Standard film scanning is at 4Base. $9.95 at time of processing or $15.95 for processed films.

We also offer Pro-CD for only $29.95 (up to 37 exposures), or $34.95 for already processed films.

Slide to CD

We can digitise your slides to CD either when you get the processed, or if you have a huge collection you would like to make into the digital format.

At an amazing $30 for up to 37 slides, the time has never been better.

Digital Files to CD

More photos are being taken than ever before..... but sadly, most are never printed. Most of these images are sitting on a camera or computer. Memory cards and hard drives crash, get stolen are can be overwritten. Guarantee your images are availble to you for many years to come. Burn them to a photo CD, or for your most valuable images use our Archival CD services

Standard Photo CD

Only $9.95 to fill a CD with your images. We only use high quality disks packaged in a slim-jewell case to ensure you have your images for many years to come.

Precious Memories CD

Created with our brand new HP photo lab, back-up your photos with this beautifully packaged service. An image of your choice is printed on the disk. You also receive a booklet full off image thumbnails in a high quality DVD style jewell case. Click here to see an example.

At only $14.95 this makes a pefect way to share you images with your clients, friends or family.

Gold Archival CD's

Most compact disks deteriate with age, both due to handling and exposure to air. In many cases, CD's are also burned at a very high speed which effects their ability to be read by other players and thier longevity.

To ensure you have your images for years to come, michaels offer a burning serivce to very high qulaity gold cd's, specifically designed to avoid deteriation and oxidisation of the disk. When carefully stored and handled, the disk is guaranteed up to 300 years.

Poster & Canvas Prints

 

 

Michaels poster and canvas printing services create your prints using only the highest quality materials. An Epson 9600 is used to take full adventage of the Epson's Ultrachome Pigmented Inks giving you a wide colour gamut with excellent durability and extremely high archivabiltiy.

In combination with Ilford paper and canvas supplies you are guaranteed to get an amazing and long lasting result.

We can print up to a masive 44" x 100m. If you can't find the size you are looking for, contact us for a quote.

Stretched (ready to hang) canvas prints are also available. Mounted and stretched by a professional framing service, you image is guaranteed to lok it's best and last for many rears to come.

Black & White

michaels offer a range of Black & White services. Whether you are currently shooting in B&W or have found a family treasure, we guarantee we always handle your images with the greatest of care to ensure you get the result you want.

Prints from most formats and sizes can be printed and processed, including specialty films such as Infra-red.

Prints up to 6x9cm can be printed on site using the Fuji Frontier Crystal Archive paper, or we can have your prints hand crafted with black and white materials. Ask us for a quote.

Restoration Serivce

 

 

 

 

We offer a full image restoration service. We can restore images from prints, negatives or digital files.

Restoration services include removing marks, red-eyes, adding or removing people and even colorising black and white photos.

No matter how difficult the image, if we can do it, the most you will pay for the restoration is $129.95

We offer 4 levels of restoration. Below is a rough guide, however as every photo is different,requiring different amounts of work, please visit our Elizabeth st. store for a quote. You can also e-mail a low resolution image to us for a quote via the internet.

Level 1 - $25

Removal of marks, scrathes and dust. Correction of images too light, too dark or sun faded. Removal of some marks on the main subject (such as a person).

Level2 - $50

Fixing scratches or damage to the main subject in the image. Reconstructing parts of the image.

Level 3 - $89.95

Repair of medium to hevily damged images

Level 4 - $129.95

Repair to heavily damaged images. Reconstruction to parts of the image. Colourising of black and white or sepia photos.

Foam Core Mounting

A fantastic way to display images on a light weight affordable material. Even the largest prints can be easily displayed with nothing more than a couple of velcro dots!

We can cut it in any size for you, up to 40 x 60 inches.

For larger sizes, we recommend the Michaels Framelite Edging System to protect your mounted print, and to minimise print damage.
